The site of London’s Olympic Park has been praised by leading names in architecture, after a tour this week. The gathering of experts, who were invited to visit the venues by Olympic organisers, included representatives from RIBA and CABE.

“The new Olympic Park will be a fantastic place and will help to regenerate East London,” said Lord Richard Rogers. “The designs show exciting sculptural form and will enhance the landscape.”

“Seeing the project at this stage is an amazing celebration of British engineering, as well as British architecture, particularly the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre and Velodrome, which will provide a lasting legacy for London,” commented Joanna Averley, Deputy Chief Executive of CABE.

The architect tour coincides with a new publication of designs of the main venues, infrastructure and green spaces of the 2012 event, which is available to download from the official website.
